Teso La Monja is located in the Toro region, just South of Rioja on the banks of the Duero River. Temperatures here can be extreme, ranging from -17 degrees C in winter to 37 degrees C in summer. In this region, the grape variety Tempranillo is known as Tinta de Toro.

Almirez is the next step up in the Teso La Monja range, with 12 months of ageing in French oak barrels, of which 30% is new. Intense aromas of red cherry plums are supported by notes of dried currants, brandy, almond biscotti and aniseed. It is rich and creamy on the palate, finishing with notes of toasted almond and long, velvety tannins.
