La ChablisienneChablis Grand Cru Chateau Grenouille Grand Cru
About this product
The story of La Chablisienne begins back in 1923. Under the leadership of Abbé Balitrand, a number of winegrowers joined forces to better withstand the economic difficulties of the period. Together, in the middle of the Chablis vineyards, they created a cooperative winery to market their wines.
The domain of Château Grenouilles is an exceptional property and unique in Chablis. It is located on the hillside plot known as “Grenouilles” (meaning "Frogs") in the heart of the Grand Crus. In 2003 La Chablisienne inherited this legend.
Grenouilles is one of the rarest Chablis Grand Crus, it forms an unbroken plot of 7.2 hectares, superbly exposed on a South-West slope and facing Chablis village. Comprising a selection of small parcels of old vines which are carefully harvested by hand, Château Grenouilles is a legendary white wine with one of the most glorious expressions of minerality. This great wine reveals its true potential with time thanks to its exceptional ageing quality.
Pale gold in colour, limpid and brilliant with light silver reflections. Exceptionally elegant on the nose, with fresh and floral aromas of jasmine and honeysuckle, with light citrus notes. After aeration, slight notes of vanilla and brioche accompany aromas of lightly stewed ripe fruit. The palate is full, structured and balanced, finishing with toasted notes and Chablis' typical salinity and length. A beautiful expression of the terroir from which it was born, and a Grand Cru with brilliance and great aging potential.
