Coming from 45 and 65 year old Shiraz vines, 2007 Black Guts Shiraz has intense notes of warm blackberry, anise, kirsch and black olives over nuances of green peppercorns, underbrush and cardamom. Full bodied but not to the extreme, the palate is rich and well fleshed with a solid backbone of very crisp acid and a medium level of very fine tannins. This is quite an elegant style with great balance and persistence. Approachable now, it should cellar to 2020+.
