Bodegas CARO is a partnership between two winemaking legends: the Rothschild family (Château Lafite Rothschild) and Argentina’s Catena family. Established in 1999, this collaboration produces wines of exceptional balance, structure, and refinement by marrying centuries-old Bordeaux techniques with the precision of Mendoza’s high-altitude terroir.Amancaya, a blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, opens with an inviting bouquet of red fruits and figs intertwined with notes of blackcurrant and dark chocolate. Sourced from high-altitude plots in Altamira (Uco Valley) and old vines in Luján de Cuyo, the wine possesses vibrant acidity and intense flavor concentration. Aged for 12 months in a combination of French oak and concrete vats, it is medium- to full-bodied, round, and generous, offering a plush mouthfeel and soft, integrated tannins. The palate reveals a core of blueberry and blackberry, balanced by the freshness typical of the Uco Valley’s climate and a long, polished finish.
