Domaine DujacMorey-St-Denis 2018
About this product
Domaine Dujac has always held a dear spot in Australian hearts. Established in 1967 with an inaugural release in the disastrous 1968 vintage, the estate has incorporated a slew of increasingly prestigious holdings over the years, while becoming a home-away-from home for many Australian trainees, some among our most illustrious craftspeople. Its forward-thinking, international air-a rarity in what can be a sternly parochial region-is manifest in the Domaine’s full embrace of organic viticulture. Like DRC, Dujac is a strong advocate of the inclusion of whole-bunches in the fermentations, although the approach is more flexible than in the past depending on the degree of lignification. Among Burgundy’s upper tier, the Morey Saint Denis is benchmark: plump, succulent and more Chambolle red fruited than Gevrey-meaty.

Blended from just over 0.7ha of vines scattered throughout the village in the lieux-dits of Porroux, Le Village, Clos Solon and Les Herbuottes, this is potently aromatic. Super-dense and concentrated, with lovely dark fruit and length on the palate, where the texture impresses with firm but silky tannins that extend the length forever. Top quality for a village-level wine.
