Domaine DujacClos Saint Denis Grand Cru 2017
About this product
The wine is matured in French oak, with a portion of new barrels each year. Whole clusters bring lifted aromatics and fine tannin, while the vineyard's natural balance yields a wine that is both supple and long-lived. Expect red cherry, forest berry, dried flowers and spice on the nose, with depth and savoury length on the palate. It's a wine that shows its site clearly—refined, layered, and always built to age. A benchmark among Côte de Nuits Grand Crus.

The domaine owns two parcels of Clos-St-Denis: 1.1ha down the slope from Ponsot and 0.37ha in the Lieu-dit Calouère. Here, the cold maceration and whole cluster fermentation have produced a wine of immense concentration, with lovely dark fruit character of a floral cast and considerable substance on the palate, which is ripe and weighty, yet still very fresh. This shows superb elegance and breed; discreet, yet absolutely marvellous quality.

Rich powerful purple, with a densely heady nose too, the 2019 Dujac Clos St-Denis wears its heart on its sleeve in exuberant style. Some stems come up behind the floral peonies and vivid sweet red fruit to add in the structural relief.
