BrokenwoodCricket Pitch Cabernet Merlot Shiraz
About this product
Leafy berry aromas are to the fore, due to the wine being almost half Cabernet Sauvignon. A beautiful deep colour with youthful tints. Ripe Cabernet fruit complimented by the spice and plushness of the Shiraz component. Fine long tannins and acid line will see this age well over the medium term. A lovely drinking wine as always.
The 31st vintage of Cricket Pitch Red (not counting the 1986) is both multi varietal and multi-regional. Just on 42% coming from New South Wales with the balance being McLaren Vale and Beechworth. The varietal breakdown is Cabernet Sauvignon 52%, Shiraz 37% and Merlot 11%. A vintage vintage across all regions in 2021 producing ripe, fine tannins with sweet mid-palate fruit.
A combination of static and rotary fermenters used, after 2-3 day cold soak prior to ferment. This wine is matured in French oak up to 18 months with a small percentage being in new oak barrels.
