Dry, Full Bodied style of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carbernet Franc, SangioveseThe Castiglioni estate has been a defining symbol of the Frescobaldi family's wine-growing tradition since 1300, and was the base from which wine production first originated for the Frescobaldi Family. An IGT blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Sangiovese, with 12 months of maturation in barriques, followed by 2 years in bottle. The nose is characterised by intense aromas of blackberries, black plums, and blackcurrants, along with notes of cinnamon, star anise, clove and hints of liquorice. On the palate, it is soft, rich, and velvety, finishing with aromatic notes of coffee, chocolate and a refreshing hint of mint. A lovely medium-full bodied wine with surprising richness and depth.

Frescobaldi has produced wine for centuries, even for the court of Henry VIII. The Castiglioni estate, held by the family since the 11th century, is situated in the Val di Pesa in the hills to the south-west of Florence. Tenuta Frescobaldi Castiglioni 2019 displays a rich purple/ruby robe, smells of ripe red fruit, hazelnut and dried herbs, while the taste reveals layers of deep, rich, textural impressions of blueberries, black cherries and plums. The tannins are luxuriously soft and the result is a sumptuous and harmonious red of distinction.
