Chris Catlow of Sentio Wines has great skill in making Chardonnay, having spent five vintages with Benjamin Leroux in Burgundy and seven on the Mornington Peninsula. Sourced from the famed Cope Williams vineyard, Chris allows the fruit to express itself without overbearing winemaking. Grapefruit and stone fruit, with a touch of spicy oak. Medium bodied, a touch of chalky texture and great acidity to finish.

And this is a top chardonnay. Showy oak on the nose but the palate is quartz-like. It’s a wine of drive and length. Lime, peach, slate, chalk, apple and cedar. The tension here, it’s something. The way it fills the palate with flavour and then purrs long and strong through the finish. If you drink it now; decant it. But it’s going to age beautifully.
