If you were going to cellar this then the bottle shape would be a nightmare for the rack. But no one is going to cellar this, so the bottle shape is and remains pretty cool. Interestingly, perhaps, my 19-year-old daughter walked past as I was tasting this and said, I see that brand everywhere. Respect then to the sales reps; they’ve done well. Chocolate. It tastes and smells of chocolate. There’s blackberried fruit behind and associated clovey spice notes, perhaps a whisperof toast too. Liquid toast. It’s medium-to-bold, neat, solid, uncomplicated without being simple. You won’t get excited over this but nor will you go wrong.

Richly fruited and immediately appealing, the wine shows black/blueberry, cedary oak, clove and dark cocoa notes on the nose, followed by a wonderfully flavoursome palate offering excellent fruit power and seductive complexity, finishing long and super velvety. At its best: now to 2029.
