2020 was a cracking year for cabernet in McLaren Vale. High quality wines displaying richness, fine tannin structures, and with authentic ripe varietal notes were the order of the day. The fruit for this fine expression of the vintage was harvested from a mature single site in the north-west corner of the region. The berries were small and dark resulting in concentrated flavours and highly coloured juice. Winemaker, Mark Jamieson, describes the colour as “jet black with a brilliant sheen.” The flavours are, of course, mostly about ripe cassis with a touch of spice, rounded within French oak. It’s wonderfully open, generous and approachable as a young wine, but will certainly benefit from cellaring
