A true visionary, Riddoch is regarded as one of the founding fathers of Australian wine. The Author represents the finest expression of the vintage. The 2019 Shiraz is dark magenta in colour with lifted spice, sweet oak and dark berry aromatics. The wine shows vibrant red berry fruits, with hints of plum and bramble. Aged in a combination of new and old French Oak, seamleessly intergrated with the fruit. Refined and silky tannins lead to a long and persistent length of flavour. This has all the hallmarks of a classic Coonawarra Shiraz and will drink well now but will reward patient cellaring for 10-15 years.

Full bodied red wines have a noticeably textural mouthfeel with bold, complex flavours. Often deeply coloured.
Dry wines have no trace of sweetness at all.

A fragrant nose displaying red fruits and umami leads to an elegant, poised red - not muscular or heavy, more, flavour-packed and layered, with an undeniable inner strength and uncluttered purity of fruit, influenced minimally by careful barrel maturation. Expertly handled freshening acidity and silty fine tannins add vibrancy and polish. Coonawarra Shiraz at a very sophisticated level. A wine that does the Coonawarra region proud. Cellar for ten years, if you can resist drinking it.
