Thicker Than Water WinesLegacy McLaren Vale Shiraz 2021
About this product
Vineyard & Winemaking: The old Estate vines used to create this wine have produced a wonderful amount of depth and maturity in 2021 and it seemed only fair to reward that with the nurturing of the fruit in 50% seasoned French oak and 50% New French Oak for 19 months.
Colour: Inky purple crimson.
Nose: Liquorice all-sorts bounce from the glass beautifully packaging an abundance of dark berry blackcurrant with underlying sweet Tabacco and dried herbs . Intense and proud!
Palate: The depth of flavour is mature displaying a wonderful concentration of fruit imbedded in firm, fine dusty tannins, great length of flavour and an acid line to carry as this wine begins a wonderful new stage in secondary complexity.
Potential: Have you got the patience? If you do, 10+ years, but it will also reward those who drink it tonight.

Vintage 2021
97 Points points Wine Orbit
Gracefully opulent and immensely complex, showing blackberry, cedary oak, cocoa and warm spice aromas on the nose, leading to a superbly weighted palate that’s dense and silky at once. Multi-layered and symphonic with seductive flavours and textures, finishing wonderfully long and gratifying. At its best: 2026 to 2041.

Vintage 2021
93 Points points Halliday Wine Companion
Certainly brighter than its 2020 sibling, and yet this full-throttle style somehow suits warmer years. A deep crimson flecked with magenta. Boysenberry, pepper grind, lilac, aniseed, lavender and sooty, crushed black rock. The cedar oak apparent, yet nestled into the fray. Will integrate better in time. The finish builds in its long trajectory with some air. This is good. The craftsmanship seems to be at a much higher level here.
