it's splendidly composed and expressed, showing blackcurrant, subtle tobacco, clove and toasted almond characters. The palate is equally appealing with excellent weight and silky flow, well framed by fine, chalky tannins. It's sturdy and structured yet with balance and refinement, offering terrific drinking. At its best: now to 2036.

Dark colour and a brooding, woodsy, earthy aroma, not varietal to sniff. Some chocolate. The palate shows good weight and depth however, albeit with a stalky tomato-leafy note and woody astringency that dominates the finish.
