5 years luxuriating in our climate controlled cellar have brought the 2016 vintage Red Knot to its peak. To the rich primary black fruit and red currant flavours has been added a pleasing malt and leathery note and enhanced smoothness. Still vibrant and rich, the wine should hold well for at least another 2 years. The winner of three gold medals, this satisfying red is great value for your hard-earned dollar.

This is a producer that has really stepped up at this tier. I recall brittle wines of poor oak and tannin management and now, a miasma of juicy fruit, fidelity to varietal type and solid structural latticework, even though the budget allows for little. Nothing is pushed. Everything feels measured and delicious. Bravo! Currant, dried sage and spearmint. Full weighted, yet savoury. Enough juice across the mid palate and thrum to the finish to reward even the most thrifty drinker. One of the greatest bargains of recent memory.
