About this product

This Cabernet Sauvignon honours acclaimed viticulturist and longtime supporter of Houghton. Dr John Gladstones, one of the great contributors to the West Australian wine industry. In 1965, it was John who proposed the Margaret River region as suitable for growing premium wine grapes. High intensity and distinctly characteristic of the Batley vineyard. The 2017 Houghton Gladtones Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon displays cassis, ripe plum and tobacco with hints of dried bay leaf and thyme. French oak maturation adds oak char, mocha and subtle spices. A full bodied and highly structural wine wine showing classic varietal characters of cassis, plum and tobacco. The rich and dense fruit is balanced by fine, firm tannins. French oak maturation contributes to the complexity, texture and length of the wine. A wine built to age gracefully with careful cellaring.
