The 2019 Vinedresser follows a tried and true McLaren Vale path - generously flavoured, smoothly finished wines authentic to place, and providing value for money. This cabernet shows classic black currant varietal notes, char, tapenade, mediterranean herbs and very fine tannins. Allow the wine to breathe for 15 minutes and enjoy the emerging flavours.

Of all the classic French varieties planted in the Vale, I believe cabernet to be the best performing after grenache. It hits a point of ripeness that is quintessentially warm climate. Yet it retains its firm structural hegemony. Savoury overtones of blackcurrant, sage, thyme, tomato bush, olive, anise and garden herb, just verdant enough to provide aromatic lift, while toning any misbegotten sweetness. The French oak here an addendum, serving as a bridge from the attack to the tangy finish. Solid value, although the acidity could be dropped a notch.
