At around the same price as a bottle of Gordon’s Gin, it’s essential to bear in mind that $50 is very cheap for any spirit in Australia, especially an aged one, so expecting too much from this bottle is unfair. That said, this is a very high-quality product for the price. Less age in brandy generally means more sweet fruit and less oak, and that’s clear here with lots of vibrant sultana character on the nose and not a considerable amount of evident tannin. With a straightforward palate and no sharp edges here, the oak and spirit are clearly high quality and exhibit great integration.
