Florals, blueberries and soft spices on opening. Plum coloured in the glass, a pastiche of flavours build and darken in the mouth - black fruit, graphite, black loam and licorice block all flowing harmoniously. There's a freshening red berry element underlying all of this blackness which provides buoyancy and aromatic lift. Finely tuned, it's a wonderful expression of McLaren Vale Shiraz, and destined to become even better in time.

Hand-picked, destemmed, crushed, open ferment with neutral cultured yeast, 10 days on skins, basket-pressed, matured in French hogsheads (18% new) for 20 months. Winemaker, Michael Fragos is a master of McLaren Vale shiraz, delivering a strong sense of place. Generosity is at its heart, sweet black fruited and high spiced with, in this case, a pomegranate exotic touch. So smooth in mouthfeel, concentrated in fruit quality, with a mouthwatering, cranberry juiciness to close.
