About this product

Situated close to the Gironde estuary in the town of Lamarque is the excellent Chateau du Cartillon. The blend for the 2016 vintage wine is 69% Merlot, 19% Petit Verdot and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon.  The wine has excellent balance and displays a deep ruby colour. Firm flavours of red berries, cherries, licorice and a touch of chocolate can be noted. The wine finishes with a very Medoc-like tannin structure.

Great deep colour. lovely soft dark Chocolate and Blackberries with very fine tannins.. Great wine.

Cassis, raspberry and cocoa, slight cedar whiff, still youthful (2018 opened in mid 2023). Nice balance of alcohol, tannins, acidity, and flavour. A bit more fruit expression and a longer lasting aftertaste would be nice (so not 5*) as this
