A “Whole lotta Shiraz” here. As black as album vinyl and cranked up to 9 on the volume dial! A lot of black influences, including blackberries, cassis and very dark chocolate, then a touch of charred, cedary oak, and tight, grainy tannin. Selected from special parcels, it should improve steadily for at least another 5 years.

A deep crimson hue segues to dark berry fruits, a whiplash of anise-doused acidity, menthol and vanillin oak. Full weighted and packing plenty of flavour. The tannins and acid quotient, a bit fuzzy and forced, but if this is your budget you could do far worse.
