Best in Show at the 2020 Decanter World Wine Awards is worth mentioning here. This is a very compact, well-put-together example of barrel matured Mencia. Elements of cherry, red and black berries, smokiness, dark chocolate with a hint of citrus freshness on a sustained savoury, talc finish. Bright and energetic, yet not forsaking depth and complexity. A must with your next platter of barbecued meats.
