McLaren Vale Wine Region
McLaren Vale, just 45 minutes south of Adelaide, is one of Australia’s most renowned and exciting wine regions. Best known for its bold, flavourful Shiraz, the region has a rich viticultural history dating back to the 1830s and a deep cultural heritage as the traditional land of the Kaurna people. McLaren Vale has a low altitude and warm Mediterranean climate with plenty of summer sunshine. Cooling breezes from the slopes of nearby Mount Lofty and the Gulf St Vincent add to the climatic variety across the region. McLaren Vale is also one of the most geologically diverse wine regions in the world. Its wide variety of soil types reflect its varied terrain, making each vineyard site unique. This, combined with a strong community of innovative, quality-focused winemakers, ensures the region continues to produce expressive wines that truly reflect their origins.
