What is Afterpay?
Afterpay is a Buy Now, Pay Later payment option that lets you split your purchase into four interest-free instalments.

You pay using the Afterpay Card in your digital wallet—just tap like Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Do all Dan Murphy’s stores accept Afterpay?

Yes, Afterpay is accepted at most Dan Murphy's stores, except for locations in NT and NWWA.

Is Afterpay available for online transaction?
No, Afterpay is only accepted in store.

Why now?
From June 2025, new regulations were introduced to make Buy Now, Pay Later services safer and more transparent. These include responsible lending rules, credit checks, and hardship support.

Does this change our RSA or responsibility standards?
No. Afterpay is simply another payment option. All usual ID checks and responsible service of alcohol requirements still apply.

How are refunds handled?
Refunds are processed the same way as any card payment.

Just tap your Afterpay Card at the register, and your repayment schedule will update automatically in the Afterpay app.

What happens if a payment declines?

The most common reason is not enough funds in your linked account.
If this happens:

• You’ll receive a text message from Afterpay

• You’ll need to contact Afterpay directly through the app for help

   

Another reason may be that the store’s payment terminal doesn’t accept Afterpay. If so, you’ll see this message:

“Alert: Afterpay is currently not available at this store. Visit the app to find participating stores.”

You can use the Afterpay app to find nearby stores that accept it.
