Images of celebrities who have their own alcohol brand

From Post Malone’s passion project to a decadent whiskey dreamed up by Drake, these A-Listers know a thing or two about drinks.

When they’re not walking red carpets or winning Oscars, Grammys and Billboard Music Awards, some of the world’s biggest celebrities are winning gongs at wine and spirit competitions. If that’s not the definition of overachieving, we don’t know what is. Not all that glitters is gold, but some of these celebrity-backed bottles have star power in their own right. Below, catch our edit of the best celebrity-owned beer, wine and spirits that have earned a spot on the top shelf.

1. Jon Bon Jovi and his son Jesse: Hampton Water Rosé

We know what you’re thinking: rock ‘n’ roll and rosé? Well, turns out it’s a helluva combo. Just ask Jon Bon Jovi and his son. They wanted to create something that perfectly blends the best French wine and the quintessential laidback style of The Hamptons – so Hampton Water Rosé was born. The father-son duo teamed up with renowned winemaker Gérard Bertrand to create an award-winning drop that’s fresh and easy. It’s lively, with soft notes of strawberry and citrus, and its lovely long finish comes from its careful ageing in new French oak barrels.

2. Drake: Virginia Black American Whiskey

His Instagram handle might be @champagnepapi, but Drake decided a whiskey collaboration was more his style. The artist, songwriter, rapper and actor worked with Brent Hocking, the founder and creator of the original Deleón Tequila to create Virginia Black American Whiskey. This is a personally selected collection of two, three, and four-year-old whiskeys focused on a high-rye content. It’s rich, decadent and smooth – and the bottle alone will impress anyone you pour it for at your next dinner party.

3. Post Malone: Maison No. 9 Rosé

Turns out the 27-year-old Texan rapper, singer and songwriter is really into rosé (or “the juice” as he calls it). When Post Malone isn’t selling over 80 million records and winning 10 Billboard Music Awards, he’s working on the passion project: Maison No. 9 Rosé. Despite the seeming gap between hip-hop and the rolling vineyards of France, Post isn’t simply the face of the brand; he possesses a deep sincerity and admiration for the craft, and it comes through in the product. This wine has a clean, dry, crisp finish that’s balanced and round with a mouth-watering and savoury texture. Sign us up! Oh, and in Australia it’s exclusive to Dan’s.

4. Kylie Minogue: Kylie Minogue Signature Rosé

A rosé by the queen of pop? We should be so lucky! A duo between Kylie and De Bortoli, Kylie Minogue Signature Rosé has a delicate pale pink shade and alluring aromas of fresh summer berries and white blossom. The grapes are sourced from the sun-drenched southern French coast (where we all wish we were holidaying right now). Crack it open when seafood is on the menu (or any time, really) and enjoy its refined and refreshing palate. We guarantee that once you taste it, you won’t get it out of your head.

5. Rita Ora: Prospero Anejo Tequila

What can’t Rita Ora do? The pop singer is an industry leader across TV, culture and fashion (and also just tied the knot to Taika Waititi). She’s fiercely supportive of women’s initiatives, which is why she’s the Chief Creative Partner of Próspero Spirits, and has partnered with Stella Anguiano on this smooth, elegant and perfectly balanced tequila. Who is Stella Anguiano? One of Mexico’s most distinguished female master distillers of the past 30 years and the woman behind Próspero Tequila. Aged for a minimum of 12 months in oak barrels, Próspero Añejo Tequila has flavours of spice, toasted caramel, cacao and roasted fruit.

6. The Inspired Unemployed: Better Beer

They may not take life seriously, but when it comes to brewing beers that actually taste good – with creds like zero carbs or zero%* alcohol – comedians Matt Ford and Jack Steele (The Inspired Unemployed) take it very seriously. Better Beer was the brainchild between the duo and Nick Cogger, a health-conscious drink enthusiast, publican, and founder of Torquay Beverage Co. Their Zero Carb Lager is a crisp, refreshing fan-favourite, as are their easy-drinking Zero Alc cans (which have an ABV of under 0.5%). Their newest releases – Arvo Ale and Middy 3.0% – bring new levels to the range. And yep, there’s a Ginger Beer, too. Fun fact: for two years in a row the Zero Carb been voted #6 in the GABS Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beer awards.

7. Kelly Slater, Tony Hawk, Dan MacPherson: Solento Organic Blanco Tequila

What do you get when former Neighbours star Dan MacPherson, championship surfboarder Kelly Slater and world-famous skateboarder Tony Hawk put their heads together? A spirit that emulates surfing, slowing down and appreciating what’s around us. Solento is exactly that: a small batch, single-estate organic tequila made from 100% Blue Weber agave harvested in the Jalisco highlands. Solento Organic Blanco Tequila is effortlessly smooth with subtle notes of citrus and vanilla – best enjoyed over ice with a wedge of lemon.

8. George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman: Casamigos Tequila and Mezcal

Created by longtime friends George Clooney, Rande Gerber, Mike Meldman and their master distiller in Jalisco, Mexico, Casamigos was designed to be a tequila you don’t cover up with salt and lime. Originally it was only for famous friends and family, but eventually the trio decided to share it with the world. These days, Casamigos, which the trio have since sold, is one of the most highly-regarded tequila labels around. It regularly cleans up in awards, winning numerous gold medals at competitions like the Los Angeles International Spirits Competition, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition, and the Spirits of Mexico Tasting Competition.

9. Ryan Reynolds: Aviation American Gin

When actor Ryan Reynolds first bought into boutique gin distiller Aviation back in 2018, he called it “the best damn gin on the planet”. As part-owner, creative director and face of the gin, Ryan has worked tirelessly to grow the label’s reputation. And it worked; in 2020 Aviation was valued at a cool $610 million. In terms of the gin itself, Aviation is a contemporary style with less focus on juniper flavour and more on a clean finish. According to mixologists, it’s well-regarded as an excellent base for gin cocktails.

10. Dan Aykroyd: Crystal Head Vodka

Only one of the Ghostbusters could come up with bottling vodka in an elaborate glass skull. Dan Aykroyd created Crystal Head Vodka along with artist John Alexander in 2008 after noticing a lack of additive-free vodkas on the market. Their signature vodka is filtered a total of seven times, three of which are through layers of semi-precious crystals. The result is one of the smoothest vodkas on the market that has won a trophy-cabinet full of international awards.
