Prime your palate with these mouth-watering craft-beer culinary combinations.
What to pair with an IPA
India Pale Ales are all about that medium malt but high bitterness life. If you’re into citrusy, piney or even floral notes, then you’re going to enjoy an IPA. Unsurprisingly, given its namesake, an IPA drinks well with Indian food, particularly something like chicken tikka masala. It will also prove to be a tasty accompaniment with your more fatty meals, like steak frites.
Pair an Initial Brewing IPA with a chicken tikka masala. The earthy, citrus notes of the IPA, along with its slight bitterness, will cut through the creamy curry.
What to pair with a lager
A classic lager is crisp, refreshing and the perfect accompaniment to spicy foods. So what are you waiting for? If your go-to beer is an easy-drinking lager, let’s add some heat. Anything from chilli Szechuan dumplings to a Thai green curry will pair well, with the lager cutting through the spice and cleansing the palate with every sip.
Pair a Doss Blockos 'D' Draft with chilli dumplings. It's a no-nonsense, sessionable lager that will balance the heat out of the chilli while still bringing flavour of its own.
What to pair with a sour beer
If you’re an adventurous beer drinker, you'll love sour beers. They've skyrocketed in popularity over the last few years, and with good reason. They’re delicious and they’re fun, but what do you pair a beer with when said beer is already so flavourful? We recommend going for goat's cheese, or maybe a bit of fresh seafood ceviche, the next time you’re drinking a sour and feeling peckish.
Pair a White Rabbit Golden Sour Ale with seafood ceviche. The ale's refreshing acidity and citrus will complement the ceviche's fresh and zesty flavours.
