9 unique premixed alcoholic drinks against an illustrated background

From white peach with cherry to pepperberry with coastal rosemary, here are the most interesting ready-to-go drinks.

Picture this: it’s a Tuesday night (the worst night of the week) and you’re in desperate need of some downtime. You put on your favourite comfort show and head to the fridge to whip up a little cocktail and some dinner. But wait, you’ve forgotten to grab groceries on your walk home from the station. Rather than rushing to the shops (your show is already on, after all), you think to yourself that MasterChef stuff doesn’t look too hard. So, you start rummaging through the dregs of your fridge and bar cart – an apple here, some Green Chartreuse there, maybe a tin of tuna – and tell yourself it won’t be so bad. Only to be quickly humbled by the fact that you're neither a master chef nor a bartender.

It’s a teaching moment. Instead of messing about with different liqueurs, spirits and flavour combos, stash a few of these super interesting premixes in your fridge for a rainy (lazy) day. Drops outside your rum and cola or vodka and soda. Cans that are seriously interesting and pack big flavour. So, next time you’re feeling a bit too adventurous, crack open one of these, and maybe grab a burger while you’re at it.

1. Archie Rose Gin & Blackberry Soda with Lemon Myrtle

When it comes to Australian household names, you’ve got your Nicole Kidmans, your Chris Hemsworths, and your Archie Roses. There are few bar carts in this country that aren’t graced with a bottle of Archie Rose. Makers of an absolutely beautiful, award-winning gin, Archie Rose has also branched out to whiskies, vodkas and heaps more. So, when compiling this excellent list (if we say so ourselves), Archie Rose was going to be on it. And this Gin and Blackberry Soda with Lemon Myrtle is the bomb. It’s a take on the ol’ gin and soda, with a hit of earthy, citrusy Aussie native lemon myrtle. At its core, you’ve got Archie Rose Straight Dry Gin, cold-distilled with locally sourced and reclaimed Australian botanicals. This is your premix, but elevated – the ultimate Aussie gin in a can.

2. Bodriggy Brewing Company White Peach and Cherry Seltzer

If you’re after a drop that says, “Hey, summer’s still here, buddy,” Bodriggy Brewing Company White Peach and Cherry Seltzer is the can for you. Think bright, fruity aromas with a cider-like hint. This drink is peachy-keen on the palate, with a fresh cherry finish. It’s highly carbonated but smooth, giving it a crisp, clean feel. Super easy to drink, with a nice lingering fruitiness that sticks around long after finishing. It basically comes wearing a bucket hat, it’s that summery. Serve it over a good heap of ice with a lime slice, or super cold from the can, and pair it with your fave flavour of chippy.

It’s zingy, it’s zesty, it's Malocchio’s Finger Lime Hard Seltzer. Crisp sparkling water meets five-times distilled premium spirit to make a fragrant and subtle citrus-tasting can that celebrates one of the tastiest native fruits. And they’ve already won Silver Hard Seltzer at the World Premix Awards in 2023, which is pretty dang impressive. We reckon this is the perfect pre-gig drink, and a great one to have on standby in the fridge. Drink this from the can ice-cold next to a big bowl of guac and chips.
