This pocket-sized pour was made for the season’s activities.

If you’ve been wishing for a wine so sleek it slips right into your back pocket, Poco Vino has granted you (and us) that wish. Hitting the Dan’s shelves for the first time, Poco Vino quite literally translates to ‘little wine’ (what’s that saying about good things and packages?). We’re calling it; this summer – and beyond – portability is the prize, and convenience is king.

Hear us out – this is 187mL of wine in, perhaps, the chicest bottle we’ve ever seen, that genuinely fits in your pocket. The best part? With six wines in the range, there’s a Poco Vino for every friend and every mood. So, if you’re vibing rosé, but your housemate only drinks savvy b, and your partner wants pinot (noir or grigio), there’s no need to compromise – you can all drink what you want, without half a bottle going to waste.

Poco Vino pairs with pasta night, it will be the topic of conversation (and envy) at every picnic, and it’s the perfect stocking filler. And if you’re a My Dan’s member you can secure two of these babies for just 12 bucks – chardonnay and shiraz? That’s the office KK gift sorted. To prove this little wine can slide into all your summer activities, here’s everywhere we’re taking Poco Vino this season.

Siri, play ‘Let’s Go Girls’The girls are coming over for dinner – cue Shania’s greatest hits. And tonight? We’re serving slow-cooked beef ragu on a big plate of pappardelle. While the slow-cooker is doing its thing, decorate your table. Place mismatched vases with single flowers down the centre of the table, then fill in the gaps with candles and, of course, wine glasses. Placecards? Two words: Poco Vino. Whether your mates are into rosé, savvy b or pinot noir, there’s a Poco Vino for everyone, which means you can mix and match according to what your friends do (or don’t) drink. Your Poco Vino and pappardelle pairing? We can’t go past the shiraz. It’s packed with red fruits and blackberries, a lick of heat from the pepper and a touch of vanilla. The shiraz will cut through the rich, fattiness of the braised meat – just don’t forget garlic bread to soak up the ragu.
Poco Vino picnicOkay, the best way to picnic is to make sure everyone is bringing something, right? We reckon BYO fold-out chairs and a few people can bring picnic rugs. When it comes to food, we’re thinking hand-held is going to work best here like charcuterie, obviously, but then we’ll need a few substantial items on the menu – quiche, cucumber and cream cheese tea sandwiches, prosciutto-wrapped melon, skewered prawns and a fruit platter should keep you going all afternoon. Grab the esky and put your rosé on ice. Now, this isn’t a regular rosé, it’s a cool rosé (IYKYK). You can expect notes of rose petal, strawberry and blossom. It’s fresh, jammed with juicy strawbs with a dry finish (meaning it’s not overly sweet), a slice of quiche in one hand and a bottle of Poco Vino Rosé in the other? Brb we’re just blissing out.
BYO Poco VinoAh, BYO night. Maybe our favourite night. Is there anything better than strolling into a restaurant with that smug look on your face because not only is someone going to cook for you (and there’s no washing up to be done), but you also get to drink exactly what you want? Like we said, it’s our favourite night. With six wines in the Poco Vino line-up, there’s a little wine to suit your favourite cuisine – Thai? Rosé. Pizza? Pinot grigio. Middle Eastern? Shiraz. Yum cha? It’s got to be pinot noir. But tonight? We’re having Vietnamese and the sauvignon blanc is coming with. This little b is zippy, bright and tart with fruit flavours of lemon, mandarin and passionfruit, which pair perfectly with a chicken phở. The acidity from the savvy b cuts through the broth and can stand up against flavours like ginger, onion and a little chilli. You can't go wrong with a serve (or two) of rice paper rolls, either – fresh herbs like mint, coriander and basil, stuffed with lettuce and wrapped up with prawns or pork belly, before being dunked in hoisin sauce. Yum.
The single-serve Poco Vino bottles fit in your back pocket
All I want for Christmas is… Poco VinoIt’s about to be Mariah Carey szn once again. And you know what that means: it’s almost time for the dreaded (joking!) office KK gift. What can you even buy for less than $15 these days? Chocolate? Maybe if there’s a sale on. Get out of the lolly aisle because we’re giving Poco Vino this year. A bottle of chardonnay will slide straight into your mum’s stocking. But for the office Bad Santa? We’re going the two-for-$12 deal at Dan’s and gifting two bottles of pinot noir because you know everyone loves pinot – especially the kind that comes in a red bottle with a magenta screwcap (we told you they were chic). This pinot has flavours of strawberries, raspberries and cherries, it’s light and fruity, and the perfect drink to sip while you perform all 30 songs from Red (Taylor’s Version).
The white wines in the Poco Vino range
I think you are a very bright, very special chardonnayNot packing enough Poco Vino Chardonnay? Big mistake. Big. Huge. That’s right, we have a lot of favourite summer activities, but none more sacred than the annual screening at the Moonlight Cinema of Pretty Woman. The best part of going to the cinema is the snacks (one vanilla choc top, please). But the best part about going as an adult? The wine. This chardy is bursting with flavours of lemon and peach and a little toast, which means it’s made for a large box of very buttery, very salty popcorn. All that’s left to do is sit back and watch Julia Roberts and Richard Tiffany Gere fall in love.
Paint and Poco VinoYes, you can absolutely head to your local paint and sip, but we thought we’d channel our inner Picasso from the comfort of our own al fresco. To host your own paint and sip, you’ll need a few supplies: canvases, easels, paints, brushes (don’t forget the brushes, or you’ll be finger painting), aprons, water cups and paper towels. To sip? Pinot grigio, baby. Picture this – you’re sitting under the sun (don’t forget to slip, slop, slap), trying to replicate Van Gogh’s Sunflowers and sipping on a bright pinot grigio that tastes of apple, pear and nectarine – it’s crisp, juicy and will transition from the canvas to the afternoon barbecue with ease.
