7 reliable wines for everyday drinking.

In many ways, picking out a bottle of wine for a special occasion is easy. You go big and bold, splurging on something fancy or that you’ve had your eye on. Truthfully, the hardest time to find a good wine is when it comes to finding a reliable bottle for everyday drinking.

A great midweek wine is one that won’t break the budget and that constantly over delivers in value. It’s the bottle of wine that’s just right for a knock-off drink, a cheeky glass with dinner, or chill-out time on the couch.

With that in mind, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite reliable midweek wines. From lighter wine styles to lighter alcohol content, these are the wines that will serve you best during the work week. Save the splurging for the weekend.

1. 6ft6 Pinot Noir

Being a lighter style red makes pinot noir one of the best varietals for a midweek drink. Unlike a heavier red, it’s fresh, juicy, and ready to drink as soon as you open the bottle. Geelong winery 6 ft 6 makes a cracking Pinot Noir that’s easy drinking and perfect for all occasions. There’s probably no better occasion than a midweek dinner though, since the incredible versatility of this pinot will match with almost every meal from your kitchen.

2. Giesen Chardonnay

When it comes to finding the right white wine for a midweek drink, it’s hard to go past this Giesen Chardonnay. It’s an easy-drinking style that doesn’t get weighed down by too much complexity, instead having just the right touch of oaky flavours that chardy drinkers will love. After opening, the bottle will last for roughly 3-5 days in the fridge, which means you can have a glass each night without worrying about the wine losing flavour.

3. La Planchelière Cabernet d'Anjou Rosé

Don’t skip over the rosé section when you’re looking for a midweek wine. There’s plenty of fantastic options outside of the red or white ailes. What makes rosé such a great midweek option is the freshness of the style. For example La Planchelière Cabernet d'Anjou Rosé, which is a semi sweet, lighter style of rosé that has a real crispness to it. You won’t find a better knock off drink in summer than a cool glass of this drop!

4. Lulu Le Francais Grenache

Everyday drinking shouldn’t break the bank. And when it comes to getting bang for your buck it’s hard to go past Lulu Le Francais Grenache. Made from 100% grenache noir grapes, it has a deep purple red colour that hints at the soft plum and cherry flavours. You simply won’t find a better value French wine at this price point.

It’s the middle of the week, you’re hungry and staring down an almost empty pantry. There’s only one thing to do — no, not takeout — whip up a quick and easy pasta dish. An Italian pasta calls for an authentic Italian wine and there’s no better than Maretti Sangiovese. It’s a fragrant, fresh, and oh-so-drinkable midweek sangiovese that will pair perfectly with your midweek pasta dish.

6. Natureo 0.5% Low Alcohol Rosé

Nothing says midweek drinking like a wine that’s lighter not just in style but also alcohol content. That’s where Natureo 0.5% Low Alcohol Rosé comes in. 7. Zera Organic Alcohol Free Chardonnay

If you’re looking for a completely alcohol free option then your best bet is Zera Organic Alcohol Free Chardonnay. It’s a French non-fermented wine made from chardonnay grapes, which gives you all of the flavour and none of the alcohol content. Some alcohol free wines have trouble maintaining body and can feel more like juice on your palette. Zera doesn't have that issue and would surprise even the most savvy chardonnay drinkers.
