Two glasses of Quattro Punch

This refreshing punch is an easy way to keep the whole gang happy – and free you up to enjoy the party.

About the cocktail

There’s no incredible history behind the Quattro Punch. It hasn’t, to our knowledge, been served in Buckingham Palace, and it certainly wasn’t invented by Venice’s iconic Harry’s Bar, but you know what? It’s delicious, and it will go down a treat at your next party, gathering, shindig or catch-up.

The punch is fresh, fragrant and perfect for summer, particularly when made with peaches or nectarines. The stonefruits bring a refreshing juiciness to the mix, while the prosecco adds some bubbly goodness to keep the palate primed. With the bitters, lemon juice and gin balancing any sweetness, the Quattro Punch is sure to appeal to most of your guests, so don’t be afraid to make a bigger batch by upping the ingredients equally.

Watch: How to make Quattro Punch

Ingredients

  • 100g icing sugar
  • 100mL water
  • 120mL gin
  • 360mL prosecco
  • 60mL lemon juice
  • 8 dashes of bitters
  • 4 stone fruits, cut into wedges
  • Garnish: extra stone fruit wedges

Method

  1. Add icing sugar and water into a large vessel and stir to help the sugar dissolve
  2. Cut the four stone fruits of your choice into wedges (we love it with peaches) and place them in with the sugar water
  3. Let the sugar and fruit mixture sit for at least an hour
  4. Add the gin, prosecco, lemon juice and bitters, add ice and stir
  5. Serve the punch in small glasses topped with more ice and garnished with stone fruit

Dan’s top tips

The Quattro Punch can be a lot of fun to play with in terms of flavours. Altering the style of each ingredient, be it in a subtle or dramatic way, will make a difference to the final taste, so don’t be afraid to get creative.

Have a sweet tooth? Try adding a sweeter-style prosecco or sparkling wine to the mix. The sweetest sparkling styles include demi-sec, while the driest is brut nature. Between the two, in order of sweet to dry, are dry, extra dry, brut and extra brut.

The gin you use will also make a difference to the punch, with a London dry gin being the classic base. You can look toward infused gins for other ideas and even switch out the stone fruits for something that will match the flavour infusion. Why not use oranges and an orange-infused gin, for example, or use a lemon-infused gin to add more citrus to the punch? You really can’t go wrong.
