Like an Aperol Spritz, only fruitier, gin-ier and more delicious.
About the cocktail
We’re back with our effortlessly cool girlfriend Jacquie Alexander for another delicious cocktail collab sesh – here’s her earlier Spicy Pineapple Margarita, if you missed it. This time we’re adding grapefruit and gin to the traditional Aperol Spritz to make Jacquie’s G-Fruit Spritz. A super simple, build-in-the-glass cocktail that is just as cool and effortless as the queen fashionista herself. Jacquie is a digital creator and co-owner of two trendy brands, In My Moods and Daily Iced. She is known for her super stylish outfits and really embodies that enviable cool-girl aesthetic. “I like to think I dress with comfort in mind from day-to-day, and when dressing up, I love to really accessorise and add some cool, unique pieces. I love experimenting with trends and putting my own spin on them.” Much like her fun twist on the Aperol Spritz. The G-Fruit Spritz is a spin on this very traditional aperitif-style cocktail – a “bubbly fresh explosion”, as Jacquie excellently puts it. And just like the Aperol Spritz, the G-Fruit Spritz is designed for easy drinking prior to dinner or lunch. “It’s a fun drink to make, but also easy enough to mix for a big group.” We’d be remiss not to ask style-queen Jacquie for a G-Fruit Spritz-sipping outfit, so here’s what she recommends: “I'm thinking something casual, maybe jeans and a bright-coloured top or a cute summer dress.” Before you start building your cocktail, have a squiz at Jacquie’s top tips below.

Jacquie’s top tips
Building Spritzes is a flexible art, but Jacquie suggests “using lots of ice to keep it super refreshing”. We totally agree. In fact, the more ice the better! Aside from that, feel free to play with the G-Fruit Spritz’s measurements. If you like a little more bitterness, add a touch more Aperol to your cocktail. If you prefer more dilution in your drink, top it up with more soda. Spritzes really are a build-to-your-taste kind of drinking experience. In terms of glassware, we suggest using a tall wine glass, just like you would for other Spritzes. And the G-Fruit Spritz cocktail is also made to sit alongside snacks. For Jacquie, a stunning cheese board is the way to go, but feel free to mix it up with some olives, nuts or even a fancy charcuterie spread. Finally, chuck on “a fun playlist with a mix of bangers and old-school ’90s bops” to accompany your G-Fruit Spritz, and you’re golden.
