We love a fruity drink here at Dan’s. They’re fun, easy and don’t take themselves too seriously and – best of all – they’re absolutely delicious. And while it may not be a strictly traditional cocktail, who said things had to be strictly traditional?
It’s believed the Malibu Sunset started life as part of the sunrise family of cocktails. You know the ones with the beautiful marbled layers that resemble that glorious moment the sun greets us for the day? The most famous being the Tequila Sunrise? Yeah, those ones. The Malibu Sunset fits all the criteria for a sunrise, with this recipe adding pineapple to be a little bit extra. Cheeky and delicious, if we say so ourselves.
So, what does this cocktail taste like and where can you find it? Well, as the name suggests it tastes a lot like Malibu coconut rum and juice. In short, it’s fruity, it’s coconut-y and it’s perfect for all you people with a sweet tooth out there.
As for where you can find it? It’s a homemade American drink and most popular on home-style cooking blogs in the US. But we reckon it’s time for this little drink to cross the big old blue to our humble shores.
