It doesn’t get any easier – or more refreshing – than this three-ingredient summer sipper.

About the cocktail

There are plenty of fancy cocktails to recreate when you want to channel your inner mixologist. But if you sometimes prefer a less-is-more approach to hosting – and still want to impress – consider this your new go-to drink. With just three ingredients, the Malibu Passionfruit Lemonade is not just super easy to make, it also brings a taste of the tropics and sky-high refreshment factor. As they say, summer in a glass.

The Malibu Passion Fruit is the star of the show here, with this spritzy highball all about the white rum’s bright passionfruit flavour. It’s a perfect pick for a balmy night (or when you want to pretend it is) and it feels just right after a day at the beach, too.

Brilliant as an aperitif, this Malibu Passionfruit Lemonade cocktail works well with salty snacks (what drink doesn’t?) or you can serve it up alongside a summer fruit platter for double the tropical vibes.

Ingredients

  • 50mL Malibu Passion Fruit
  • 15mL lemon juice
  • 100mL soda water
  • Garnish: lemon wheel and/or passionfruit wedge

Method

  1. Fill a tall glass with ice
  2. Add the first three ingredients to the glass and stir
  3. Garnish with the lemon wheel and/or the passionfruit wedge

Dan’s top tips

One of the best things about seemingly simple cocktails is how much you can tinker with the mix. If you like your drinks sweeter, for example, use lemonade instead of soda. For an extra fruity kick, try stirring passionfruit pulp through the finished drink for little pops of flavour.

You could also make this drink using one of Malibu’s other flavours, including the OG coconut rum. And if you’re into Malibu Passion Fruit, we think you’ll love it in a Pornstar Martini (use it in place of the passionfruit liqueur) or swap it with the white rum in a Mojito for a fresh twist on the classic.
