Bec Judd with the Cosmo Spritz cocktail

Putting a fresh twist on the classic Cosmpolitan, this bright spritzy cocktail is the ultimate garden party drink.

About the cocktail

Alright, babes, you know the drill. We collab with a fabulous celeb, and you get a delicious, easy-to-make cocktail. This time, we’re adding the Cosmo Spritz to your drinks inventory with none other than the talented Rebecca Judd – model, TV presenter, speech pathologist and wife of former Australian Football League player Chris Judd. What a CV. We chatted with Bec so you can get to know her – and her Cosmo Spritz – a bit better. Starting with the question on everyone's mind: If you were a cocktail, what would it be and why? “I’d be a Watermelon Margarita because it’s pink and a lot of fun.” Who doesn’t love a Watermelon Marg?

As we said, Bec wears many hats. But what does a typical day in the life of a modern renaissance woman look like? “It varies so much – school run, business meetings, lunch at The Pantry, a photo shoot, cardio tennis. Often all on the same day!” Busy, busy lady.

So, let’s dive into this refreshing twist on a classic, the Cosmo Spritz. It’s definitely something Carrie Bradshaw would be drinking on a balmy New York City day. “It tastes like a zingy, fizzy twist on the OG Cosmo,” Bec says. “It’s refreshing, not too sweet, so it’s perfect for entertaining. New Year's Eve is always a party at our place, so the Cosmo Spritz will definitely be on the list! I’ll probably make a big batch for my girlfriends, who will just love it.”

If a Cosmo Spritz sounds up your alley, make sure you have a squiz at Bec’s video and top tips below for making it at home.

  • 15mL citrus vodka
  • 15mL curaçao (triple sec or Cointreau)

  • Garnish: orange slices (or blood orange if in season)

  1. Pour all ingredients, except the tonic, into a wine glass
  2. Add cubed ice and then top with tonic water
  3. Stir well so everything is mixed and chilled
  4. To finish, garnish with orange slices

Bec’s top tips

So, you want to make a Cosmo Spritz? Here are a few things to keep in mind.

Number one: “It’s easy to make it in a batch and serve from a big glass dispenser,” says Bec. “But make sure you have lots of fresh ice on hand.”

Number two: If it’s a party, you want to make sure you have some nibbles to go with your cocktail. Bec reckons the best foods to pair with your Cosmo Spritz are delicious summer salads and a generous grazing spread. Well, now it’s a party.
