The Bramble cocktail is a modern classic that was created in 1980s London by bartender Dick Bradsell, who worked at the time at infamous Soho venue Fred's Club. This was a member bar that drew people like Boy George, Nenah Cherry and Naomi Campbell, to name just a few. Heady days.
Dick set out to create a thoroughly British drink with this cocktail, and he named it in honour of the blackberry bushes he used to forage from as a child. It's beauty lies in its simplicity, but it still manages to be elegant and wonderfully refreshing.
Traditionally, the Bramble is made using London dry gin, with the juniper notes mingling nicely with the blackberry flavours brought by the creme de mure, but there are other ways, as you will see in our tips below, that you can enhance that berry goodness.
