The Blood Orange non-alcoholic Spritz

Give the Aperol Spritz a non-alc makeover with this refreshing recipe.

About the cocktail

As a non-alcoholic twist on the traditional Aperol Spritz, this recipe has just the right amount of orange vibrancy, zest and bubbles to remind you of the Italian coastline.

There is nothing tricky about a Spritz, and even more so with this non-alc take on the classic. This is a simple recipe that ensures the non-drinkers get to enjoy a complex drink with a difference and aren’t just left to choose from the soft drinks when the party kicks off. It’s also an excellent pre-party sipper for when you’re prepping for the guests to arrive.

Spritzes, especially the Aperol Spritz, is a celebrated refreshing cocktail the world over, and this recipe captures a lot of that same brightness, serving up this bittersweet and fizzy zero%* treat.

Ingredients

  • 30mL Lyre’s Orange Sec
  • 30mL Lyre’s Italian Orange
  • 100mL blood orange soda
  • Garnish: sprig of rosemary and orange slice

Method

  1. Add the Lyre’s Orange Sec, Lyre’s Italian Orange and blood orange soda to a glass filled with cubed ice
  2. Stir, then garnish with rosemary and orange slice

Dan’s top tips

  • As mentioned, there isn't much to mess up with this simple recipe, but there are still plenty of ways to make it your own.
  • If you love to lean in to the bitter flavour spectrum, see how much of the Lyre’s Italian Orange you like best in this drink – a touch more, and it may be more to your tastes with its pithy dryness shining through. Just be aware this may then mean playing with the ratios of the other elements to balance it out.
  • And if there is a little too much orange going on in here for you, feel free to play around with soda water or another type of mixer altogether.
